I used to make them shorter, but I had someone once ask me for longer handles, and I've been making them this size. That has usually been my philosophy, too ("I use repurposed materials, and if people are uncomfortable with that, then they're probably not my target market."). But occasionally I start to panic and wonder if I'm missing out on a huge segment of potential buyers. I also worry that words like "upcycled" and "repurposed," even though I use them all the time, are not familiar to everyone. If I buy a cool shirt at Goodwill that I upcycle into a headband, is that repurposed, also, even though I obviously purchased it in a different form than when I buy uncut yardage in a thrift store? Is there even a need to differentiate? I count unused Goodwill fabric as repurposed. So for me putting UPCYCLED front and center would be a good thing. Is it really a negative for some? If so, do you really want those people wearing your headbands? Kidding. But yeah - showing what lovely wearables can be made from someone's discards is a wonderful thing!carol gravellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14741761305470968710noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2534543578855570043.post-53485700172565602782014-10-15T09:47:17.151-04:002014-10-15T09:47:17.151-04:00Going to add one!Going to add one!Michellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05865194046610370529noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2534543578855570043.post-23470131280285301082014-10-15T09:42:16.306-04:002014-10-15T09:42:16.306-04:00Do you have a follow button? I am a bigger woman, I happened upon your blog while looking for a shirt to make for myself that doesn't make me look like a bouquet of flowers or a bedazzling session gone terribly wrong! So I am new to your blog. You mentioned in the tutorial that you have other ideas for finishing the top, where can I see these ideas? Also, do you have any other clothing that would work for someone bigger? Thank you so very much for sharing!!Kristinnoreply@blogger.com
